Unlike many basement venues, JANUS is situated on the 5th floor, offering a spacious 95-square-meter hall (excluding the stage) with a high ceiling that prevents sound congestion. The stage is approximately 8 meters wide and 4.5 meters deep, providing ample space for full bands and intricate performances. The sound system features a high-end Midas M32 digital console paired with a custom-tuned speaker array that delivers clear, balanced audio suitable for everything from delicate acoustic sets to high-energy rock. 🥤 Drink Fee: Upon entry, a mandatory 600 JPY drink fee is required in exchange for a drink token. Please note that the counter only accepts cash for this transaction. While some merchandise booths may accept credit cards, the venue’s own entrance and bar operations are strictly cash-only as of 2026.
🚭 Smoking Rules: In accordance with the Health Promotion Act, the entire venue—including the hall, foyer, and restrooms—is strictly non-smoking. There is no smoking room inside the premises. Visitors must use designated public smoking areas street-side before entering the building.
📸 Photography/Recording: Unless explicitly stated by the performing artist, all photography and video recording of the performance are strictly prohibited. Respecting the “live” experience and the artists’ intellectual property is a core part of Japanese music culture. Please keep your mobile devices stored during the set.
🎒 Baggage & Etiquette: The venue provides 116 coin lockers inside (36 small units for ¥200 and 80 large units for ¥300). For oversized items like suitcases, a ¥500 cloak service is typically available at the front desk. It is considered poor etiquette to bring large bags onto the standing floor, as space is limited during sold-out shows.
