English: For international visitors, the most important point to remember is the separate drink charge. ANIMA’s recent event listings show a required 1-drink order at entry, with ¥600 appearing frequently and ¥700 on some events. Because the amount can differ according to the individual event, check the event listing before attending and keep Japanese yen in cash as a practical precaution. Photography and video recording are not automatically permitted: event-specific rules take precedence, and recent ANIMA event notices explicitly prohibit photography, recording and filming unless permission has been granted by the performers or organizers. The safest approach is to wait for a clear announcement or ask staff before using a camera or smartphone. Large bags should not be left on the floor to reserve a position. ANIMA’s event guidelines prohibit placing belongings in the audience area and direct visitors to use the available coin lockers or cloak service. This is especially important at crowded standing shows, where bags can become a safety hazard. Smoking inside the venue must follow the current requirements of Japan’s revised Health Promotion Act. Indoor areas are generally non-smoking, and smoking is permitted indoors only where a legally compliant smoking area is provided. Do not assume that smoking is allowed simply because the venue is a live house.

English: ANIMA works best as part of an evening spent exploring Amerikamura rather than as an isolated destination. The neighborhood developed from the late 1960s onward around renovated warehouses, imported clothing, second-hand records and youth-oriented cafés, eventually becoming one of Osaka’s major centers of fashion, music and street culture. The Amerikamura Association describes the area as home to more than 20 live houses, with venues operating daily. Before a show, walk through the streets around Sankaku Koen, the district’s symbolic triangular park and a traditional meeting point for young people. Browse the area’s vintage clothing and record shops, then continue toward Orange Street, an approximately 800-meter shopping street known for fashion, cafés, boutiques and interior stores. After the concert, the surrounding Minami area offers numerous casual places to eat and drink. A simple local route is therefore: Shinsaibashi Station → Amerikamura and Sankaku Koen → ANIMA → post-show food or drinks around Amerikamura and Namba. The value of this route is cultural as much as practical: it places a live performance inside the neighborhood that helped shape Osaka’s postwar youth culture, rather than treating the concert as a standalone tourist attraction.

ANIMA’s Sound & Stage

Getting There
English: ANIMA is located at Spazio Building B1F, 2-10-21 Nishishinsaibashi, Chuo-ku, Osaka. The venue’s official access information gives three useful approaches. From Shinsaibashi Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, use Exit 7 and allow approximately eight minutes on foot. From Yotsubashi Station, also on the Osaka Metro network, Exit 5 is approximately six minutes away. From JR Namba Station, the walk is approximately ten minutes. The venue is opposite the north side of Shinsaibashi Sun Bowl, which is a useful visual landmark when navigating the neighborhood. The entrance is on the east side of the building, beside the stairs leading down to the basement. Because Amerikamura contains numerous small streets, underground venues and buildings with similar façades, following the map to the exact building is preferable to relying only on the venue name. For first-time international visitors, Yotsubashi Station is the shortest of the three published walking routes, while Shinsaibashi Station is convenient when combining the visit with shopping and sightseeing in Amerikamura.
