- Explore Tachibana-dori (Orange Street) before the show. A short walk south from Kitahorie leads toward Tachibana-dori, better known as Orange Street. The approximately 800-meter street is lined with cafés, boutiques, furniture and interior shops, and represents one of Osaka’s best-known contemporary shopping areas. Its history is older than its fashionable image: the area developed as a furniture district, with roots extending back to the late Edo period. It is an excellent way to see the contrast between Kitahorie’s independent creative culture and the large commercial areas of Shinsaibashi and Namba.
- Walk through Horie’s café and design district. Kitahorie and Minamihorie are known for fashion, cafés, interiors and converted older buildings. Osaka’s tourism information describes Horie as an area with a slower atmosphere than the major centers of Kita and Minami, while its mixture of renovated traditional buildings and contemporary architecture reflects the neighborhood’s transformation after World War II.
